So this new year has literally started out on the wrong foot for me. Jasmyne was really sick starting the day after Christmas. She had a very bad stomach virus, had diarrhea and was vomiting for two days. Surprisingly, Janelle got away with only having a small cold and fevers, but nothing that made her extremely uncomfortable or cranky. I got sick shortly after, but my body was really trying to fight through it. My sleep deprivation probably did not help very much to my cause. By New Year’s Eve, I forced myself to be well just so we could finally step out of the house. Little did I know, that day would be the last day I step foot outside my house (except when I went to work on the 4th). My girls and I have been cooped up in this house due to the fact that I don’t want to go outside in the cold snowy weather. I am literally going crazy and actually got sick again yesterday. I was trembling, had a fever and went to bed at 7pm after dinner. It was terrible and I literally felt like death. Their school was cancelled due to the dangerously cold temperatures. I prayed when I woke up in the middle of the night that I would be well enough to take care of them. God is good! I was well enough to take care of the kids and I actually felt so much better when I woke up. Hopefully I finally got rid of the bug that has invaded my body. I rewarded myself by doing a little online shopping today. I’ve saved so much by not going out, I figured I deserved it.
It has been kind of nice to be at home though. I got to watch Serendipity, Panic Room, Click and Mulan with the girls. They loved it, especially Mulan. I think they’ve watched it 5 times since then. We baked cupcakes today and even did a couple of “science” experiments as seen on Facebook. We did the trendy thing and actually boiled water and threw it into the -45 degree air. It was awesome and the girls thought it was magic. The water turned into smoky snow! They were so amazed that Jasmyne actually wanted to stand on the bottom of the stairway as we threw the water towards her. Of course I told her we couldn’t do it, but I secretly wanted my husband to stand there while we threw it at him, just to test it out. (LOL). We also wet a thick wash towel with warm water and left it outside to see how long it would take to freeze it. I’m sure it would take less time, but by 5 minutes, the towel turned to ice. Kinda crazy! The kids are off tomorrow again since CPS cancelled for the second day in a row. The husband is off the next 3 days. I am off for TWO weeks. No matter what happens, we’re going out tomorrow to do something. I have a feeling that I will be running through the aisles of Target in all my craziness. I am also thankful to our neighbors. Because of ALL of them, we have barely had to go out to shovel. Everyone did their part and took turns shoveling for the 6 surrounding houses, maybe even more. Now that’s what I call team work. It was truly amazing! May you all stay warm and cozy during this unusually dreadful time!
